This week was the launch of BioWare's latest adventure, and so began once more my tradition to take time off from work to play a game that excites me. It was a chance to see how the company was going to move forward with its first major release since the departure of the doctors. It was a chance to see how the company would respond to the criticisms and shortsightedness of how the previous game was put together. More than that, it was a chance to find new ways to get frustrated playing a game that is doing almost everything it can to steal the title of top major RPG away from the hands of Elder Scrolls.

Episode 310: Six Years of Super Cinema
by Blake M. Petit, Kenny Fanguy & Erin Petit

A few weeks ago, Warner Bros announced their slate of planned DC Comics movies through 2020. Not to be outdone, Marvel hit us with Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe a few days later. With Sony and Fox joining the fray with their licenses, there are over three dozen superhero movies in the works that we know of. This week, the Showcasers talk about the movies that have been announced -- which ones are we excited for? Which ones have us a bit concerned? And which ones will surprise us if the cameras ever actually roll?

And what's cool this week? Kenny is into the Constantine TV show, Erin is making her way through Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and Blake gives props to Rocket Raccoon #5 and Tooth & Claw #1.

Earlier this year I had to make a difficult choice about the Assassin's Creed franchise. I talked about its inception, direction, and ultimately its current state. In truth, I regret never thinking about why the game was such an amazing success. I regret not delving into what about the game mattered most, and that the formula was so ready to be duplicated by others in order to make some money.

Back when Halo launched on the XBox it was a special time for many. Most notably Bungie was finally getting there due on a large scale after toiling away in near anonymity for years on the Macintosh with their Marathon franchise. Halo took set pieces from that universe and made something that placed the XBox on the map. Microsoft, for all their faults in numerous arenas, knew what they were doing when they got Bungie to develop that game. Now, perhaps that is giving them too much credit, but for once in a long time I am in a giving mood.
