• Hathaway and Hardy to appear in Dark Knight Rises

    This morning brought with it the announcement that Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Get Smart) and Tom Hardy (Inception) had signed on to appear in Christopher Nolan's third Batman picture, The Dark Knight Rises. Hathaway is announced to be playing Catwoman, while Hardy will be Bane.

    With this announcement, a vital missing piece of the film's perception has begun to fill into fans' minds: namely, "What the *%^& is it going to be about?" Knowing the bad guys, of course, is far from knowing the plot (especially with Nolan) but it helps build expectations. Expectations we can all smugly say "It didn't live up to" when it comes out next summer. It kinda feels like, after The Dark Knight and Inception, anything less than a home run from Nolan would be an utter failure. Which is a bad attitude, mister.


    The question remains to be seen how Nolan will interpret the characters, given his unique yet faithful spins on Two-Face and the Joker from the previous installment. Me, I'm just disappointed Nolan has not yet announced whether he will be incorporating King Tut.

      IDK about Hardy being Bane. You'd think they'd use someone like Javier Bardem (SP?) for the part.

      I remember a flurry of "WTF's" when Heath Ledger was announced as the Joker. Wonder how they're gonna portray Bane when he oozes with Venom? If any CGI will be involved?

      Hopefully not. So far the films have gone with a more "realistic" look and theme.

      I expect he will just be somewhat buffed out, with the drug making him stronger, faster, and more insane. I also expect he's going to be a cartel boss.

      Tom Hardy really buffed up for his role in Bronson so we know he can put on the muscle to play Bane which is a good start!

      Yeah, a hot woman who's been nominated for an Academy Award in a role that requires her to be in a tight outfit. Who wants to see that?

      EDIT: Then again, that accurately describes the last Catwoman(hell, she won one!) so... but yeah, Hathaway can really act.

      I'm with Scott: It seems like all people are thinking about is Hathaway from The Princess Diaries. Ignoring her spectacular work in Rachel Getting Married amongst other dramatic roles. Hell, she was the best part of the horrible Alice in Wonderland movie last year.
