Reputation has been added as a feature on the site once again - and unlike in the past, negative reputation is allowed.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

• Reputation is private. If you wish to let the poster know you left them Rep, you may sign your name in the reputation comment. Keep in mind that no one is under any obligation to do this. Please do not demand that someone identify themselves when leaving reputation, or attack anyone for refusing to do so.
• If you receive negative rep - please remember that it is one person's opinion about what you posted. It just means they disagree, nothing more. If you feel the need to complain about a negative rep given to you, there is a "Whine about Negative Reputation" thread in this forum. Feed free to post there, but do show some restraint.
• Please do not use Reputation to punish people you do not like, or to retaliate in any way.
• Reputation is absolutely meaningless. You gain no privileges for high rep, and you are not punished in any way for low reputation. If you follow the sites rules and you have -1000 Reputation points, nothing at all changes for you.

Why did we ever abandon reps to begin with?

It caused more problems than it was worth. People who got negative rep would completely derail threads and start flame wars over it, and when negative rep was eliminated, people kept complaining about that. So it became all or nothing.

Figured it was a good chance to try again, and see what happened...

The little green dot under your name tells you your current rank. I'm not sure where to find individual points or votes...

I actually toyed with the idea of not telling people, because it is so hard to find. But then people couldn't see the comments.
